This lovely home is reminiscent of the French countryside, beautifully updated and furnished with authentic French antiques while providing a multitude of modern conveniences. Tucked away to provide ample privacy and beautiful views, this distinctive home is warm and inviting, yet roomy enough to feel luxurious. Renters can access the lake as long as they use the boat provided at the home with approval sticker for Lake Purgatory. This is necessary to eliminate the introduction of zebra mussels into the lake to help keep our Colorado lakes beautiful and healthy.
No other personal watercraft can be used and no fishing is allowed at this time. We would be happy to direct you to other lakes that allow fishing nearby.
This home is pet friendly and allows up to 2 dogs less than 50 pounds with a non-refundable fee per pet based on size/type. Please let us know about your pet(s) when inquiring or making your reservation.
4 Wheel or All-Wheel Drive is REQUIRED for access to this home in winter - No exceptions. Chains are also available to rent in Durango.

This house and the setting is more beautiful than the photos! Amazing views, lovely decor, and very clean! The home is equipped with everything you could possibly need. We really enjoyed sitting on the patio with the fire pit going. Wonderful vacation! Highly recommend!

The property is one of a kind, the "Switzerland" feel of the home and decor, the location with a view of a peaceful lake, we enjoyed it so much! The location is perfect as is is only 30 minutes back to Durango or 30 minutes in the opposite direction to Silverton. The owners left maps and instructions to hikes in the area which we took advantage of. The Nugget bar is directly across the highway. The staff there was friendly and fun as well as at the Olde Schoolhouse restaurant / bar. I would love to stay here again in the future!

You will absolutely be taken aback by all of the details in this French Mountain home. We enjoyed two wonderful nights in this chalet and did not want to leave. The views and beauty will amaze you. We will absolutely be coming back.

Moonlight Chalet looks like an enchanting European cottage in a picturesque setting on a mountain lake. The views are nothing short of breathtaking. This charming chalet has a spacious gourmet kitchen with room for everyone to gather and visit while preparing incredible meals. The master suite is amazing with windows to view the starlit skies before you drift off to sleep. There is a large patio where you can relax and enjoy the views. If you are looking for a unique vacation home in a spectacular setting Moonlight Chalet is where you need to stay.

This home was located in a very tranquil location. The setting was amazing with all the snow around the house. Walking to the barn and playing in the snow was so much fun. The home was well care for and the owners were thoughtful with all notes. The home is very much like a French chalet. It makes you feel like you are in different country. The chalet is only 2 minutes from Purgatory Ski Resort. This was amazing place to relax after a day of skiing. I thought I was in the French Alps.

Met with a slow sheet of ice creeping across the lake and geese honking in flight. Xmas tree lit indoors. Grand ceiling beams opening the heart of the home from floor wood finishes to ceilings. French influenced charm explosion throughout the well equipped kitchen to service our inner-chef voices over our four day visit. We freshly brewed our own 2 coffee presses of many cups of joe, viewing the lake with stove-top oatmeal-syrup breakfast as the sun rose up through the kitchen and dining room windows. 3 dinner meals; homemade-crust pizzas, prime rib roast and bbq ribs. Evening was spent in front of fireplace. Did we enjoy our visit & we were overwhelmed with the comforts this home brought to our family.

Amazing stay for our Anniversary celebration! This home is unbelievable and the pictures do not do it justice & all the extra details are incredible, the setting is beautiful and when the sun set, we knew that "Moonlight Chalet" is the perfect name for this beautiful home!

Our stay at Moonlight Chalet was truly magical...from the luxurious French Country chalet, to the charming decor, to the glorious garden, to the wonderful amenities, to the starlit nights and moonlight shining over the serene lake, this property is a gem!! Our family will forever treasure our time shared together at this special place!
